Power Gloves

The annual CYBC Power Gloves Tournament demonstrates the determination of inner-city youth to succeed in life through sports and seeks to promote the mission of youth development through boxing. The three-day tournament highlights talented and dedicated amateur boxers throughout Illinois and the United States region. All of the competitive boxers train for months to prepare to enter the ring at the CYBC Power Gloves Tournament. Participants in the past have included 90 amateur youth boxers–both boys and girls–in seven weight classes. The event takes place in Little Village/ North Lawndale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday close to Veteran's Day Weekend.

As our largest annual fundraiser, the CYBC Annual Power Gloves Tournament directly benefits Chicago Youth Boxing Club’s youth development programming. It is our main fundraising event and our most visible opportunity to showcase the talents and ambitions of our youth boxers and the impact of CYBC. The tournament helps to subsidize the cost of the programming the organization provides throughout the year. While youth in our program pay a nominal fee of $25 per month, the actual cost to run our program is $120 per member, per month.

The enthusiasm of the CYBC boxers to become role models for the local community has created many success stories. We look forward to this competition every year and to sharing with you the dreams and accomplishments of our gym members!
